How to Reduce Allergy Attacks with Herbs and Nutrition

If you suffer from food allergies then there are a few measures that you can take to prevent any attacks. Simply taking care to avoid those food groups that you are allergic to will help to prevent any attacks; at the same time there are also a few herbal remedies that you can use to help to cure these allergies.

Nutrition to cure allergies

If you suffer from food allergies then you must start with eliminating all these foods from your diet. If possible you must make sure that you do not get these foods into the house as you may use them in food preparations. Remove these foods from your diet for a period of 2 weeks to see if there are any positive changes in your health. Start introducing these foods after a period of 2 to 3 weeks. Note the changes in your physical and mental state once you start eating the foods once again. If you experience any mood swings, skin rashes, headaches and asthma like reactions then you are allergic to those foods and you must avoid them completely.

Eliminating red meats and saturated fats from poultry and refined sugars from your food is an absolute must. You must swap this with a healthy serving of fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts and dry fruits, flax seeds and whole grain. These food groups will take care of your daily dietary requirement.

In order to maintain the health of your immune system; you must drink plenty of water. This helps to remove toxins from your body and eliminate waste products as well. Fresh fruit and vegetable juices like carrot, celery, pineapple and tomato juices are extremely nutritious and they are beneficial to those suffering from allergies. Vitamin C reduces any inflammation caused by allergies and hence you must increase your intake. Other vitamins like A, B, E and zinc must also be added to your daily diet.

Herbal treatments for allergies

Several herbs help to fight allergic reactions. Astragalus helps to strengthen the body to fight and resist allergies. It combats fever and skin irritation caused by the allergies. Thyme and licorice blended as a tea helps to clear nose congestions by reducing mucus formation. Turmeric must be used in food preparations and with milk to help to fight the infection and allergies by easing inflammation.
