How to Reduce Menstrual Pains Naturally

Your monthly periods bring a basket full of sorrows with it ranging from back ache to stomach cramps, swollen ankles to general weakness. While some are blessed with no pains; others suffer for a few days before, during and after their cycle. This means that you could be in pain for 14 to 15 days of the month, which roughly calculates to you being in discomfort for close to 150 to 175 days of the year. That’s a huge figure! Fortunately, there are a few simple remedies to help to take care of this discomfort.

Heat compressions help to relieve most of the body aches that you may suffer from during this period. Draw a hot bath and soak in it for a few minutes. Add bath salts to help relieve any stress that you may be under. During the day you can use a hot water bottle or a heating pad. Do not over do the heat compressions as it can increase the flow.

To get relief from headaches do a few breathing exercises. Dim the lights in your room and add a few incense sticks to create a calm atmosphere. Sit of the floor in a comfortable position, close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Avoid thinking of the pain but focus on pleasant memories like a walk with your loved on, your first kiss, the birth of our child, any memory that is pleasant and that will take your mind of the pain.

Get a friend, spouse or a professional to give you a massage. Focus only on 1 body part although there may be pain in several regions. The best thing you could do is to focus on your feet as you tend to cause most strain to them. A gentle massage followed by soaking them in hot water will relieve you of a lot of discomfort.

Eat fruits like bananas, grapes and melons to keep you alert and hydrated. Eat a few cubes of chocolate as well to keep your mood elevated. Avoid junk food and caffeine completely.
