Summer is a time for fun and frolic. However it is not always the case especially if you have children who are on their school breaks and have close to nothing to do. Planning activities to keep them busy is a fun thing but it can also be energy draining. The key is to keep the kids busy and ensure that they have fun.
There are a few options for you to try. Firstly look around for a good summer camp. This will help to ease the stress for a few days. You must also consult other parents about their plans for the summer and you can form a group to take care of the kids. You can also get the elder children at home to plan the activities for the day for the younger ones. Treasure hunts around the house and board games are time consuming and energy draining and the children love it. It also keeps every one energized and makes sure that everyone has fun.
Pace yourself. Although there are several things that the children would love to indulge in, make sure that you do not have a cluttered schedule with too many outings in the week. Space out the activities and limit the outings to one or two a week. In this way you are able to settle down from one outing to the other, remember there will be an increase in the amount of laundry and dishes with every outing.
If possible you must try and take a mini vacation with the entire family. In this way you can spend time with the kids as it helps to relieve any stress that you may be under. A few days at the beach or a weekend at a bed and breakfast will help to rejuvenate your senses. You will return home energized for the rest of the summer.
Some of the other activities that you could indulge in during the summer to get rid of stress involve walking around the neighborhood. This is a good form of exercise. You could also go to the park with the kids; this is a definite stress buster.
