How to Relieve Your Eyes after Long Hours at Work

Due to pressure and excessive work load, many of us spend long hours in front of computer. In order to achieve targets, prepare presentation and set benchmarks, we gradually do harm to our eyes. We fall victim to Computer Vision Syndrome that brings impact on our physical and mental well-being. Some of common symptoms of Computer Vision Syndrome are eye strain, neck-aches, back-aches, headaches, redness of eyes, photophobia, blurred vision, dark circles, and lot more. Before these symptoms turn into permanent problems, learn about how to take of eyes.

Do Not Work Continuously
Spending hour after hour will only hamper your eyes. Thus eye-care while working on computer is very important. Make it a point to take a break from your work. Walk around for couple of minutes and then again start working.

Do Some Stretch
Non-stop working over computers cause aches in neck and back. Stand up and stretch your back and do some light neck exercises. Try to do this after every one hour.

Look Around
Do not keep glaring on computer screen. Not only it hampers your eyes but at the same time it affects your mind. Take off your eyes from computer screen and look at your surroundings. If your seat allows any outside view, then it is wonderful. Else, take a good look at your cabin.

Soothe Your Eyes
Before sleeping cut two round slices of cucumber and put it on your eyes. It will provide you the much needed relief from eye strains. You can also get good soothing effect with tea bags. Put two tea bags in your refrigerator for few hours. Take them out and put on the eyes for five minutes. The result is soothing.

Massage
Close your eyes and roll the eyeballs gently in a circular motion. The massage must be done with upward circular and downward circular strokes along with a deep breath. Slowly open your eyes and repeat it for two more times. This gives your eyes their much needed exercise.

Sit Properly
Maintain correct posture while working. There might not be direct relation between seating postures and eyes but it really does help. Sit straight and assure that your lower back is getting adequate rest. Relax your arms, wrist and shoulder; you will feel less strain in your eyes.
