How to Sleep Better Using Aromatherapy

Distorted sleep or lack of sleep and inability to sleep are common causes of concern in our ever- so busy lives. The lifestyle we lead clubbed with poor diet and lack of exercise claims for sleepless nights. Although there are several prescriptions available to help to sleep they all have side effects that are life threatening. In addition to that, certain sleep aids lead to addiction and dependence. This is not a good thing either. Aromatherapy, however, is a natural therapy that uses natural products and one needs not fear dependence or side effects.

Certain oils help to relax your muscles and relieve muscle tension. You must use these oils either independently or blend them with other oils that are unscented. Lavender is a popular choice for this problem. Vanilla relaxes your muscles while sandalwood, chamomile and rose oil induce sleep. You can add a few drops of these oils with either almond or olive oil and massage them into your body with the help of a professional therapist. Massage the oils on your entire body but add more pressure to the areas that you feel tense. This helps to reduce stress and relax muscles.

Scented candles are a current trend and they are quiet effective. Burn a couple of them when you are in the bathroom or at night when you are sleeping. They invigorate your senses and help your body to relax. You must be ware of where you place the candles so as to avoid domestic fires.

Herbal teas are relaxing and extremely therapeutic. A warm cup of lemon or ginger tea after your meals will help you to snooze through the night with no tension. You must drink it at least an hour before you plan to hit the sack as you may have a bowel movement and this may hamper your sleep.

Ginger oils are extremely effective. Add ginger to a bowl of soup and it will help to calm anxious nerves and help you to rest well at night.
