How to Stay Healthy During the Summer

Summer is the time when you have most of your activities conducted outdoors. From barbeques to beach picnics you spend most of your time in the sun. The sun snatches the moisture from your body as well as causes damage to your skin.

What you need to do?

Firstly to stay fit during the summer you need to stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water. There is no stipulated amount that you need to drink; the idea is to stay hydrated. Always keep a bottle of water with you. In addition to water you must also have fresh fruit juices. The natural sugar in the juices boosts your energy levels. Orange juice is loaded with Vitamin C and this helps to keep you hydrated as well as keeps you mentally alert.

Always wear sunscreen or sunblock to protect your skin for getting a tan. If you are at the beach then you must wear a hat and carry an umbrella to protect yourself. After a dip in the ocean you need to wash off the salt from your body with normal water in order to avoid sunburns.

Avoid spicy foods on your platter. They cause havoc in your system as they increase the amount of acids. Alcohol is a hot drink as well. You must avoid it completely in the summer. Salt tends to absorb the water from your system so one must avoid it as far as possible. Opt for cooling foods like milk, porridge and candies.

Avoid tea and coffee, not only are they hot they are also caffeine based drinks that cause dehydration. They can cause several diseases as well if consumed on an empty stomach.

If you are swimming at a local pool that may have traces of chlorine then wear swimming goggles to protect your eyes as well as sunscreen all over your body to avoid a tan.

Wear cotton clothes that will absorb the perspiration. Avoid wearing black clothes. Wear open footwear if possible.
