There is nothing wrong in gaining a few extra pounds during the winter. However, the pounds that you gain must be via healthy sources rather than junk foods. Winter is the time when you are most comfortable indoors and hence exercise is compromised upon.
You must keep your body well hydrated during the winter months. At this time your brain does not send frequent messages of thirst to your body due to the increase in the moisture in the air. You must continue to drink the same amount of water as you did during the summer months. Drinking other fluids is not a bad idea either; however, one must stay away from sugary drinks like canned drinks and soda pops. Watch the amount of alcohol you drink during this time. The warmth that a drink offers you is tempting and hence you may be interested in increasing the amount of drinks you indulge in. This is harmful to your system as alcohol dehydrates your body.
The festive season revolves around winter and one may be tempted into a variety of foods that may not be so nutritious. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables before you head out to a party so that you stock up on smaller amounts of festive food. At a gathering eat plenty of nuts and fruits. These help to increase your protein intake. They are extremely nutritious as well.
Eat plenty of yogurts in the winter. The bacteria in the yogurt help to watch your weight for you. Include whole grain, oats and barely in your diet as well. These are nutritious foods. Eating dark green leafy foods is a healthy option as well.
Remember to eat everything in moderation to avoid loading up on unnecessary pound that you will dread after winter. You must also get as much exercise as you can in winter to avoid getting lethargic.
