As a child, burping was fun. Even infants are waited on hand and foot till they burp, however when adults do it in public it is considered distasteful and embarrassing. Burping is the process whereby the body releases gases of the stomach from the mouth. In some cases people belch as a habit and not due to any discomfort in the stomach. The person may force the gas to be expelled from the mouth immediately after a meal in order to avoid discomfort at a later stage.

Remedies to reduce the embarrassment

In order to avoid burping, one must eat their food slowly and chew well as they eat. If you eat quickly then you ingest gas and this causes you to release the gas in the form of a burp later on.

Avoid drinking carbonated or aerated drinks. This increases the amount of gas in your stomach unnecessarily and it leads to burping and belching later on.

If you are prone to acidity and belching, then you must avoid eating onions. They are extremely acidic and they increase the amount of gas in your system. The same can be said for chocolates.

Avoid consuming alcohol. This will help to reduce the inflammation in your stomach that leads to the release of gas from the mouth.

Milk and foods that are high in sugars can also invoke the belching. This can be eliminated by reducing the amount of sugar in your diet and drinking warm milk with a pinch of turmeric to avoid belching.

Foods made from whole grain and lentils can lead to severe gas build up and hence release at a later point. Do not binge on these foods if they make you uncomfortable.

Do not wear clothes that are too tight for you. This hinders the flow of air in your body and restricts the amount of food you eat, hence leading to you belching after the meal due to the discomfort that your body is in.
