How to Stop Eating Junk Food When You are Stressed Out
When your stress levels are high, you automatically levitate towards a bag of crisps or chocolate chip cookies or even worse chocolates. Students stressed out about exams and project deadlines, employees stressed out about work deadlines and parents about children. No matter what phase of life you are going through, you are stressed out.
The way to ease stress does not like in sugary delights, as a matter of fact they increase your stress levels when your waist line begins to show the pounds you’ve gained as a result of the junk you’ve loaded up on.
A simple way to get rid of your habit of jumping onto sugars during periods of high stress levels is to keep sugar free gum with you. Chew on the gum as a means to get rid of anxiety. The act also diverts your mind from food. Choose a mint flavor as they make eating sugary snacks unappealing after a stick of gum.
Drink a cup of hot chocolate. However you must have cocoa and not a chocolate sauce. Cocoa loads you up with the necessary anti oxidants and these help to elevate stress and anxiety.
Eat a few dark dates. These are healthy options to any of the sweets that you may jump on and they are full of fiber so they help to keep you fit and maintain your energy levels as well.
Avoid a cola and fizzy drink and cancel you order for a cup of tea or coffee. Drink water instead. Add a spoon of honey and a hint of lemon to the water. This helps to calm your nerves and relaxes your mind and body. Water also keeps you well hydrated.
If chocolate seems to be the only thing that will lower your anxiety levels then you can choose to have a chocolate covered biscotti. The biscotti is the only cookie that is low in calories when compared with any other cookies. Also it has just the right amount of chocolate in it to help to satisfy your craving.
