How to Stop Sugar Cravings for Better Health
One of the toughest things to do is to resist the urge to snack on sugary goodies. Refined sugars are loaded with calories and do nothing for your body besides help to pile on the pounds. Eliminating sugar from your diet will make you feel lighter and healthier. Once you stop eating sugar you will automatically eat a healthier diet and nourish your body with healthy options.
The key to avoiding sugar is to eat a healthy diet. Eat foods that are cooked in olive oil or coconut oil. When you crave sugar; it is your body’s way of telling you that you are lacking on certain nutrients and that you need sugar only as a substitute.
Replace the starches that you eat with whole grains and cereals. Eat sprouts and wheat as they are healthier and they add to your nutritional value. They also help to restore balance in your body.
You need to include plenty of protein in your diet in order to prevent sugar cravings. Proteins will help to replace any sweet cravings that you have. Chicken and fish are a great source of protein and steamed vegetables are a great meal for vegetarians.
If you are desperate for sugar then you must eat a fruit. Do not give in to the craving. Apples are the best fruit to satisfy the craving; though you may choose to eat any fruit that you have at home.
Sometimes when your body is dehydrated; it asks for sugar instead of water. If you have a sudden craving for sugar then it is your body’s way of telling you that it requires water. Drink a glass of water before you eat anything else. Always keep a bottle of water with you in order to prevent any dehydration.
A few tips that will help to keep you away from sugar:
Before you go out to the supermarket; eat a healthy meal. This will prevent you from buying any sugary snacks on an impulse. Swap sugar with honey and skip sugary snacks and opt for healthier snacks like fruits and vegetables like carrots and celery sticks.
