How to Treat a Common Cold During Your Menstrual Cycle
The agony that your body goes through during your menstrual cycle is unimaginable. And to add insult to injury there are times when your body finds it way to contracting a common cold at this time. This happens as your immune system is weaker and does not function at its best when you are having your menstrual cramps. Added to the stomach cramps you then have to deal with a stiff nose and a heavy head that is a part of the common cold symptoms. We are not aware that there are several home therapies that can help us to achieve just that in order to prevent us from feeling miserable.
You will be surprised to know that something as simple as drinking water can help to take away all your worries. During your menstrual cramps your body tends to feel bloated and it is for this reason that you need to drink plenty of water. Bloating is a sign of water retention in your body and hence you need to flush out the excess quantities by drinking even more water. When you drink water you will be flushing out the harmful toxins and the bacteria that cause the common cold. In this way you will also prevent your body from getting dehydrated and getting a fever as a result of the dehydration.
A hot water compress on your forehead will help to make the mucus thin and eliminate it in the process of fomentation. Also, a compress on the pelvic region helps to ease the pain and discomfort of the menstruation. Drinking hot water with a hint of lemon or a cup of hot tea will have healing effects from the inside out. It will also help to ease the discomfort of a sore throat.
You must also use steam therapy to cure the common cold. Boil water and place your face over the vessel in order to breathe in the steam. In this way the mucus will get thin and eliminate itself naturally from the body. Taking a bath with hot water will also helps to ease the pains that you experience as a result of your periods while taking care to eliminate the mucus at the same time.
Thus water in different forms will help to ease the discomfort of a common cold during your menstrual cycle.
