How To Treat Abdominal Pain If You Have IBS


Irritable Bowel Syndrome is a condition where a person suffers from stomach cramps and this may cause constant diarrhea, nausea, constipation of pain in the abdomen. These symptoms cause a lot of discomfort and unbearable pain. You may treat the pain with simple home remedies but you must remember that these remedies only reduce the pain they do not take care of the condition.

In order to treat the abdominal pain you must first analyze the cause of the pain. In order to do so you will need to maintain a food journal; this will help you to understand the source of the pain. Write down all the foods that you eat including the time that you consume the food at; this will help you to understand the root cause of the abdominal pain. Once you know what is causing the pain you’ve won the battle; the next thing you need to do is to avoid eating those food.

A hot compress is a great way to get rid of abdominal pain. Place a hot water bottle in your bed or apply a hot towel on your abdomen when you experience stomach cramps; this will get rid of the pain in the region.

A cup of hot tea is another way to control the pain; as a matter of fact a good cup of tea will help you to get rid of the pain completely. Brew a cup of peppermint tea or cranberry tea and sip on in slowly. Breathe in the aroma of the tea while you sip on it; the aroma of the herbs in the tea will soothe your senses and help to reduce the abdominal pain the tea helps to soothe the cramps and lessens the pain drastically.

You could also blend a tea with cumin seeds; add a spoon of the seeds to a cup of water and brew it for 20 minutes. Filter the tea to get rid of the seeds and add a spoon of honey to the tea and drink it as hot as you can. This cup of tea will help you to soothe stomach cramps and get rid of the pain completely.

Peppermint oil acts as an effective remedy in the case of IBS. Apply a few drops of the oil to your bath water and soak in it for a few minutes. Alternatively you could also add the oil to a diffuser and keep it in your room; the essential oil helps to relieve and reduce the pain caused by constant diarrhea and constipation. The oil also soothes heart burn so using the oil in any fom of treatment will give you a great degree of relief.
