Fig fruits are very valuable in case of asthma treatment. One or two figs can be soaked overnight in water and can be given to the patient. This can provide a relief for the patient by draining of the phlegm.

Lemon is another valuable home remedy for asthma. A lemon diluted in a glass of water can be given to the asthma patient along with their meal to get good result.


Indian Gooseberry

Indian gooseberries are another important remedy for asthma in children which brings good results in the treatment. Five grams of gooseberries with one teaspoon of honey can be taken once in day. This mixture forms a very valuable medicine for asthma.


Bitter Guard Roots

This is an ancient home remedy used in the case of asthma and other breathing problems. A teaspoon full of bitter guard root paste with an equal amount of honey or basil paste can be mixed in water and can be given to the patient once in a month. This can bring good result in the patient suffering from asthma.

Drumstick Leaves

Drumstick leaves are found to be very beneficial in the treatment of asthma. A hand full of drumstick leaves can be boiled in about 200 ml of water and to this salt, pepper and lemon juice can be added for taste. This soup can be given to the patient suffering from asthma once in a week for better result.

Ginger is one of the important home remedies for asthma. A teaspoon full of ginger juice can be mixed in a glass of fenugreek decoction along with some amount of honey for taste. This decoction can be taken once in a week to get good result.



Garlic is another important remedy for asthma. About ten garlic cloves can be boiled in 30 ml of milk and can be given to the patient. This decoction is very effective in curing asthma in children.  Garlic juice mixed in warm water can be taken daily after breakfast to treat asthma.


Bishop’s Weed

Bishop’s weeds are found to be very effective in the treatment of asthma in children. A teaspoon full of bishop’s weeds can be mixed in a glass of buttermilk and can be given to the patient. This is a wonderful home remedy for asthma. The patient can also inhale steam from boiling water mixed with some amount of carom seeds twice a day for getting relief from the breathing difficulties.

Safflower seeds are said to be beneficial in the treatment of bronchial asthma.  Half teaspoon of powdered seeds with a teaspoon of honey can be given to the patient twice a day for good results. Mixture of safflower with honey can be also taken as a remedy for asthma.



Lobelia is usually available in small bottles at all health food stores. This can be mixed in water and can be taken continuously for a week for best result.



Turmeric is an important home remedy for asthma. A teaspoon full of turmeric powder mixed in milk can be given to the patient and this can effectively help in curing the disease.


Mustard Oil

Mustard oil mixed with a little camphor can be rubbed on the chest part during the attack of asthma and this can provide a relief from the breathing problems for the time being.


Tips For Controlling Asthma Attack

Patient should be given a balanced diet containing a limited carbohydrate contents, fats and proteins. Liberal quantity of grains, fruits and vegetables can be included in the diet of an asthma patient. Air, sun and water are other good healing agents.

Breathing exercise, occasional enema and regular fasting for a week can also do best in curing the disease. Keep your home free from all types of allergens that can cause asthma.Avoid perfumes and other cosmetics that irritate your child. Taking vitamin B6 and B12 rich food items can reduce asthma, as these are essential vitamins in curing asthma.
