How to Treat Common Cold at Home

It seems that common cold only affects nose and throat but the fact is that it affects the whole body. These are viral infections that can cause tonsillitis and pneumonia, if ignored. It is named common cold probably because it is a common health hazard that affects people of all ages, even three to four times in a year. Coughing, sneezing, sore throat and runny nose are some of the regular symptoms of common cold. Visiting a doctor is not always required if the affected person is healthy. These germs do no react to antibiotics. If these infections are occurring frequently, then doctor consultation is a must.

Home Treatment
There are several home remedies for common cold. If you are witnessing symptoms of common cold, have herbal tea or garlic. You can also take garlic capsules to get rid of the problem. Watch out that your body has enough fluid quantity to retain dehydration. Drink 6-8 glasses of water daily. Eat chicken or vegetable soups to get energized and relieved. You can also take twenty drops of Echinacea tincture water.

Use it after every two hours to get the result. If your child is affected with common cold, massage with warm coconut oil on the chest. Put warm water into a coffee mug. Mix lemon juice, 1 tsp honey and 1 whiskey shot. Mix it well and sip. Also, try inhaling the vapors of Thyme leaves after putting them in a hot-water bowl.

Healthy Diet
Common cold treatment can be easily done with the intake of fruits with Vitamin C. Lemon is a very good example of Vitamin C-laden fruit. Prepare a lemon juice with a dash of honey. Drink it to fight common cold. Oranges are also very effective. A green Chinese tea and Chamomile tea are also helpful for cold.

There are several antibiotic drugs available in the medical shops that can provide fast relief. However, it is better to try out the natural cures as these remedies help to keep away the viral infections for long time rather than the available medicines.
