How To Treat Cough And Cold With Plant Extracts

Cough and cold are a common ailment for both adults and children though it is found more among the kids. Colds are caused mainly by the virus. Our immunity system often becomes weak due to lack of sleep and fresh air, improper diet, lack of exercise and so on.

Echinacea: This herb is extremely useful for combating common cold. The leaves, stems and flowers of this herb are extremely useful for fighting cold. Though Echinacea cannot prevent cold from entering the system but this herb can be beneficial when one is suffering from it.

Licorice: Licorice is a good remedy for cough and cold. Consumption of about 5 grams of powdered licorice root with honey thrice daily helps a lot in combating cough and congestion. Licorice herb is also useful for throat and lung problems as well as bronchitis. It also acts as a mild laxative and supports antiviral activities within the body.

Ginger: Ginger is an excellent remedy for cold and cough. Ginger tea is quite popular in this regard. One has to slice or grate an inch of ginger root and add juice of ½ a lemon and mashed clove of garlic in it and boil it with water.

Add lots of honey to it. Consume this mixture at least twice daily. This is an effective remedy for cough and cold.

Astragalus: Astralagus is a Chinese herb. This herb is rich in antioxidants and helps to increase antibodies, stimulate natural killer cells as well as helps to boost the natural immunity of the individuals.

With the boosting of the immunity of the body, this herb can easily combat cold and cough and prevent the body to fall a victim to these ailments.
