Anxiety is termed as a condition where a person is unable to cope with the harsh reality of life. This leads to overwhelming fear, stress and worry. Sometimes the fear is due to reason that you may have no control of like a fear of the world ending. There are several different forms of Anxiety disorders and they are categorized by the factors that lead to the fear. One of the most common factors that lead to stress and anxiety are phobias like fear of the dark or water.
While most people opt for therapy to help them to deal with stress; there are several alternative forms of treatment that are equally effective. Yoga is one such therapy that enables a person to take charge of their life and control their stress levels. Through meditation and breathing exercises you are able to control your panic levels and reduce the possibility of a panic attack.
Massages are also very effective in dealing with stress. When you get a massage from a professional they activate your pulses and pressure points to help you to control and reduce stress. When this happens your body is also able to relax and deal with stress without panic.
Aromatherapy is now gaining popularity in the fight against stress. There are a variety of oils that help the body to relax by generating a sense of calm in your senses. When you feel relaxed your body is automatically able to cope with higher levels of stress. Aromatherapy oils can be used in baths or diffusers in rooms. You can also use these oils in your massage therapies. Lavender oil and Ylang Ylang are known to be the most effective as an aid to stress and anxiety.
You must also practice guided breathing to help you to control your stress and prevent a panic attack. Inhale slowly while counting from 1 to 8. Stop for a second and hold your breathe while counting from 1 to 16. Then slowly exhale counting from 1 to 8 again. Breathe in this manner for 5 minutes every morning and at night. You must do this the moment you begin to feel stressed in order to control your blood pressure and reflexes.
While it is easy for one to prescribe different methods of controlling stress; it is upto you to decide which form works best for you. I recommend trying all forms before you are able to decide. You must also inform your doctor about any alternative treatments you are using in conjunction to your medication.
