
Essential oils are mostly used in Aromatherapy. The oils are used to treat a variety of ailments and disorders. The oils can be used externally by treating the affected area locally or by using it in aromatherapy. The healing properties of the oil ensure that it is able to treat dandruff. There are a few oils that are able to treat dandruff and hence you need to choose the oil that you would like to use in the therapy.
Tea tree oil, rosemary and thyme are oils that can be used to treat dandruff so you may choose from them. Make sure that you are not allergic to the oil that you plan on using. After you choose the oil then you need to choose the carrier oil; this is the oil that is used as the base- the oil that is used to blend the essential oil. Mix the oils in the proportion of 1:10.
Apply the oil to your scalp. You may heat the oil but do not make it too hot. When you massage the oil into your hair you need to use pressure on your scalp and massage with your finger tips using circular movements. This helps to increase in your circulation; an activity that decreases the possibility of dandruff. Let the oil stay on your hair over night. In the morning wash your hair like you normally would. You may use a conditioner if you normally do; avoid using conditioner on your scalp though. Rinse the product from your hair. Towel dry your hair and avoid any heat treatments or styling products on your hair.
Repeat the treatment every alternate day and ensure that you focus on the areas that are more prone to dandruff build up. You may use the oils on your scalp daily. In conjunction with this therapy make sure that your diet consists of plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables and that you are also getting a healthy dose of dairy. These foods help to keep your scalp healthy and devoid of dandruff.
