The benefits of eucalyptus oil are well known and it is due to its curative powers that we are able to use it for healing purposes. The oil is used topically to heal ailing joints and muscles; especially back pain. The oil increases the flow of blood and increases the amount of oxygen in the brain; thereby increasing the healing power.
Before you use the oil in any therapy you need to make sure that the oil is safe and pure. You will get the best variety in health food stores or stores that sell herbal products. Eucalyptus oil is very strong and must be mixed with a carrier oil. Jojoba oil is the best carrier oil for eucalyptus as it prevents it from evaporating quickly. Mix 20 drops of the essential oil for every cup of the carrier oil. The oils will separate and hence you need to shake the bottle constantly and before using it. Store the oil in an air tight container and away from direct sunlight.
As a remedy for back pain you must spray the oil on your back and then gently massage the area. This helps to heal the acing back muscles. You need to massage the back till the oil gets completely absorbed by the skin. When you have completed the massage you will experience some heat being released from the body; this is a sign of the body getting healed. The heat is due to the anti inflammatory properties of the oil. If the heat is unbearable then you must wash it off with a wash cloth dipped in warm water. This reduces the intensity of the heat that is released from the body.
For other aching joints you can use the oil in the same way; the only difference is that you will need to apply a warm compress to the area immediately after massaging the area. You can also use the oil to clear sinus issues and other respiratory related issues. Pour 2 to 3 drops of the oil in boiling water and breathe in the fumes of the oil. This will help to make the mucus thin and evaporate.
Make sure that you do not use the oil on torn or broken skin. It will cause harm to the skin and can lead to an infection or the skin getting burnt.
