How to Use Green Tea for Relaxation
Whilst some argue the fact that green tea does not have any effect on the body and what we experience is only psychological; we must also keep in mind the fact that the tea is rich in anti oxidants and that we benefit from it naturally. Brewing a few cups of green tea and sipping it through the day is very peaceful and relaxing. There is a certain compound in the tea that helps to calm the nerves and soothe the senses; thereby aiding the relaxation process.
Theanine, the compound in the tea that helps to relax works by easing the stress in the brain; therefore the argument arose of the effects of the tea being only psychological. One must also remember that the tea may not work the same way for everyone. In some cases the caffeine content of the tea may have adverse effects and increase anxiety.
How to use green tea to relax?
So, how does one use green tea when you are trying to relax. Well, the easiest and most common way is to brew a cup of tea and sip on it through the day to relieve stress. Do not add an artificial sweetener but use honey instead. You could also use the tea in the form of aromatherapy essential oils. These oils can be used in massage therapies, in baths to soak in or aromatic candles or incense sticks.
Several perfume giants are now jumping on the bandwagon and creating fragrances with a green tea base or a hint of the aroma. You can use one of these perfumes. It is a good option as you can spray it on as and when you begin to feel uneasy or anxious. Spray the perfume on your pulse points for maximum benefit. You need to use green tea in different forms as drinking too much tea has adverse effects on your liver.
Remember, we lead stressful lives and an herbal option is always better than a prescription for anti anxiety medication.
