How To Use Honey To Improve Your Health And Skin

Apart from just being used on toast, honey has a lot of medicinal properties even when consumed or applied on skin as an antiseptic. From ancient times, honey has been used to cure sore throats, small pox, and indigestion or even used on the skin as a moisturizer. Honey has many healing qualities and it is also a very good anti oxidant, which helps fight cancer. It is a natural sweetener and is a good substitute for sugar in lemonade or other drinks. This way it can be used as a good source of glucose to give you energy when playing any sport or in case of dehydration.

When suffering from a cough or a sore throat, honey can be added to warm water. This is very good home remedy to soothe your throat. Honey can also be applied directly to a wound as it has many antiseptic properties. Not only does it help in healing the wound, it also helps in eliminating scars from your body. It also has healing properties in case of skin burns. Soak some gauze in honey and dress the wound with it, this slows down the bacteria from multiplying and disinfects the skin.

When suffering from any infection, honey mixed with warm milk doubles up as an antiseptic from within your body and helps boost your immune system and fight the infection. People suffering from insomnia may also try this every night. Drinking honey with warm milk 20 minutes before bedtime, helps you calm and soothe your muscles, allowing you to relax and ensures sound sleep.

Honey also helps cure mild stomach ulcers. Taking a spoonful of honey helps calm and soothe the ulcers from within. Honey can also be applied on the face to get rid of age spots or scars. Apply a layer on skin, leave for about 10 mins and rinse off. This will also help to moisturize your skin. It can also prove beneficial to cure urinary tract disorders. Add a tablespoon of honey to warm water along with some freshly squeezed lemon. Have this twice or thrice a day.

In general, honey added to your daily diet will prove beneficial to you in many ways. Try making it a habit to have a tablespoon of honey everyday, either in the morning with warm water or at bedtime. If you are in the habit of drinking tea, add a spoon of honey to it. There are so many easy options that you have to make sure that you have some honey everyday. However, if you are diabetic, please consult your doctor before doing so.
