How to Use Mustard Seed Oil as a Cure for Asthma

Asthma is a respiratory disorder that can cause a lot of issues with breathing and can also hamper the quality of ones life. Asthma attacks are life threatening and hence preventing an attack is a must. Though mustard is commonly used in the kitchen in food preparations the oil can also be used topically as a remedy to a variety of ailments. If you suffer from asthma then you need to take care of yourself especially during the cold months in the year. Mustard seeds and the oil will help you in more ways than you can imagine.

To use mustard as a remedy boil a pot of water and when it reaches its boiling point you need to add the seeds to the water. You can add a few caraway seeds to the water as well. You need not be worried about the proportions. When the water releases fumes you need to inhale the water. Take slow deep breaths and concentrate on your breathing. This will help to clear any mucus from the nasal passage and clears all sinuses almost instantly. It also ensures that you are able to breathe when you have an attack.

When you are having an attack or if you experience discomfort breathing then you need to massage the oil onto your chest. Breathing in the oil will help you to relax and increases the flow of air to your lungs. If you are prone to constant attacks then you must mix a spoon of sugar in the oil and eat this several times a day; this is a preventive measure. You could also mix honey in the oil and eat this 3 times a day. Honey helps to clear any congestion in the throat and the oil will keep your respiratory tract free from congestion.
