If you think that just the cold temperature leads to one suffering from aches and pains then you are mistaken. Lack of sunshine and therefore lack of Vitamin D is the cause of severe body aches.
There is very little that one can do to change climatic conditions; as a matter of fact it is almost impossible to do anything to change it. What you can do is make a few lifestyle and dietary changes in order to take care of your physical and mental health.
A change in diet can make a major change in your life. Fish like salmons, sardines, tuna, mackerels and king fish are all rich in Vitamin D and eating them is a good way to increase the amount of Vitamin D in your system. Besides fish you must also eat plenty of mushrooms, egg yolks and liver in order to increase the vitamin D intake.
When you are shopping at the supermarket; look for milk and juices that are fortified with calcium and vitamin D. These are helpful in increasing your vitamin intake. Breakfast cereals and yogurts that are free of trans fats are a good way to increase the amount of Vitamin D in the body.
You can also consider taking the Vitamin in the supplement form. This ensures that you get the required amount of nutrients in your body if you do not attain them from the foods that you consume.
With regards to lifestyle changes you must ensure that you are covered well and no part of your body are exposed. This includes head, feet and fingers. Wear the warmest clothes that you can lay your hands on in order to be able to fight the cold. Remember, if your limbs or head are exposed to cold then you will suffer from sever pains. Have warm baths and drink as much warm liquids that you can. You must also ensure that you keep yourself well hydrated and that water is your drink of choice.
