Women dread oily skin. This skin type has its positive aspects and its negative aspects as well. If your skin is oily it tends to look dull and lifeless. It is constantly shiny and the excess oil on the surface of the skin attracts dirt and bacteria; this may lead to acne and pimples.
One of the positive aspects of oily skin is that it does not age fast and thus you will not notice wrinkles and age pots on your skin at an early age. Though this is definitely something to be happy about one also needs to maintain their appearances and this can be done by a good skin care regime.
The key to getting rid of excess oil on your face is to wash your face well. Merely splashing water on your face will not suffice. You need to spend a few minutes on your skin care regime in order to prevent acne and pimples. If you have oily skin then you must never wash your face with hot or warm water; this increases the production and supply of oil to the surface of the skin.
The first step is to splash cold water on your face. Then pour a small amount of face wash on your finger tips and massage this all over your face and neck. Use circular movements on your skin so that you are able to get rid of all the oil on the surface of your skin. Let the soap remain on your skin for a few minutes and then splash cold water and wash it. This will help to get rid of the excess oil on the surface of the skin. Pat your face dry with a clean towel.
Once your skin is dry; dip a cotton ball in rose water or toner and gently massage this on your face and neck. This will help to get rid of any dirt that is clogging your pores. The toner will also close all open pores and will help to control the production of oil on your face.
If you notice your face getting oily use a tissue or an absorbent cloth on your skin. Simply dab your skin in order to soak the excess oil. If you have oily skin then you must drink plenty of water in order to keep your skin well hydrated.
