How to Wash your Hair the Right Way

If you wash your hair daily and yet it looks limp and lifeless then you are doing something wrong. Firstly, unless it’s summer you need not wash your hair daily because you are striping your body of its natural oils. I have a few tips to share on washing your hair to gain maximum results.

Firstly, when you wash your hair always make sure that the water is warm and not hot. Hot water hurts your scalp and dries the skin. This leads to dandruff. Wet your hair completely before you apply shampoo. Never pour shampoo from the bottle directly on your hair. Pour it on the palms of your hands and later up by rubbing your palms together. Massage the shampoo into your scalp and onto the length of your hair. Do not rinse immediately. Once you complete applying the shampoo then leave it on for a few minutes. This allows the product to revitalize your strands. Wash off after a few minutes with warm water.

Post shampoo you need to condition your hair. Do not apply conditioner like shampoo. Conditioner does not need to be massaged into your hair nor does it need to touch the root. The roots of your hair are nourished by the scalp and do not need excess conditioning. Pour a few drops of conditioner on your finger tips and run your fingers through your hair starting from your earlobes. Keep the conditioner on your hair for a few seconds and wash it off with cold water.

Towel dry your hair but never rub it. Rubbing causes friction which leads to breakage of hair. Wrap your hair in the towel and then let it loose after sometime. Use electric hairdryers only in case of emergencies as they tend to strip you of the moisture leaving your hair dull and lifeless.

You must take care to use products that suit the texture of your hair.
