Women are constantly advised by health care practitioner about getting breast self examinations in order to prevent breast cancer; unfortunately heart disease are the highest cause of death in women in comparison to cancer. If you are under medication for diabetes then you are twice as likely to have a heart attack and if you use oral contraceptives then you increase your chances of an attack by 40%. Those who smoke and consume alcohol increase their chances of an attack drastically.

Some of the symptoms of a heart attack include difficulty in breathing, uneasiness, chest pain, nausea, shortness of breath, inability to breathe and anxiety. These symptoms may occur in clusters or independently. In most cases you would feel fatigue and extremely weak for a few days prior to the attack.

How to prevent yourself from a heart attack?

A smart diet combined with appropriate exercise and a healthy lifestyle will help to keep your heart healthy and your body fit. If you are a smoker then quitting will be the best gift you can give your body. The nicotine and tar affect your lungs and respiratory organs making it difficult to pump blood; this causes strain on your heart and can result in an attack. Thus quitting is in your best interest.

Avoid consuming to much of fats and salt. Eat a healthy diet with a combination of fruits and vegetables .Add juices and dairy to your diet. Watch your cholesterol intake and eat foods that are healthy for your heart.

Indulge in activities that need physical exertion. If you do not have the time to exercise; then walking instead of taking the subway or a bus helps. Physical activity helps to keep you fit by burning the unnecessary fats in your body and reducing your calories. It also helps to relieve muscle tension and increases blood circulation.
