How You Can Include Carrots In Daily Diet

Carrots are very good for health. Research shows that including carrot daily in your diet can help ward off various forms of  cancer and can also reduce the risks of stroke and heart disease. It is very good for growing children, but it is very difficult for some to just eat it as a salad daily. Howver it could be made into a variety of things which is sure to win over the heart of all your family members.

Carrots are great if you enjoy taking them raw as a salad. They are also great as snacks. Next time you feel like having a something sweet, do not go in for that ice-cream, cake or pastry. Just nibble on to a carrot and feel real good and energized.

Your family is sure to enjoy carrot and leek soup. This soup could form one of the recipe that can be used in your daily diet.   You could add onions, salt and white pepper and enjoy it. If you prefer you can also add fat free chicken stock.

There is no need to add butter or cream, for the soluable fiber of carrots help add the thickness to the soup. This soup is also ideal for  infants, but pepper need not be added.

Grated carrots can be used in Indian homemade breads. The puree ofcarrots can be used for baking quick breads too. Your children will simply love homemade breads with carrots in them one day of the week in their daily diet. If you wish to reduce the flavor of carrots you could add a lesser amount of it.

It is interesting to note that carrots do not lose their nutritive value when cooked. But some may not like it to be mushy. Light cooking is better as the cooking helps to break down the tough cell walls of releases beta-carotene.

Carrot can be turned into a real good dessert; carrot halwa, and preserved for a few days. Grate carrots and boil it in milk in a sauce pan till it is cooked and thickens.You may use cream if you wish. Simmer the boiling mixture as it cooks. Then add sugar to the mixture. You may add the quantity of ghee as per your like, it could be done with less also if your family is weight conscious.  If you wish you could top it up with grated khoa(thickened milk bar) and dry fruits.

Carrot can be consumed in a variety of ways. Your 5 month infant can enjoy  it as a soup, stew or as halwa(with no dry fruits)too. Besides have it as soup, stew, or as juliene strips. Include it with meat or anything that your imagination dictates to you. Take carrots daily in your diet and be healthy with vitamins, minerals and carotenoids.
