The location or place where two bones make contact is called “joint”. Joint pain is caused by a number of injuries or health conditions. As we grow old, the cartilage in our joint begins to wear out. This is a major cause of pain to a huge number of people.
There are a number of symptoms of joint problems, but the general and most common symptoms of joint problems are as follows:
Pain: Joint pain can be really bothersome. The most common form of joint pain is
rheumatoid arthritis that causes swelling, stiffness and pain in the joints. Most of the people with shoulder problems commonly have pain. Middle-aged persons suffering from shoulder pain mainly have problems with rotator cuff, while those above 50 years, mostly suffer from shoulder arthritis.
Joint injury: Joint problem sometimes arises due to the injury at any joint of the body. As leg and hand joints are most utilized, they are more prone to injuries. Usually heel pain and
ankle pain are very sharp. Ankle pain is often associated with swelling and bruising. It heals with a certain amount of time, rest, ice, and compression.
Viral Infection: Many viral infections result in body and
joint aches associated with high fever. It is considered as one of the common causes of joint pain.
Bursitis: Bursitis is commonly found in shoulder, knee, elbow, and hip joints. Bursae are cavities filled with fluid near joints where muscles pass over projections that are bony and, which assist movement thereby reducing the friction. Bursitis might be due to the cause of trauma, infection, rheumatoid
arthritis,
gout, etc. Symptoms of Bursitis are: joint pain with tenderness, swelling and warmth over the joint.
Fatigue: Being fatigue easily is one of the symptoms of joint pain. Fatigue or weakness may arise from rotator cuff problems or due to Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). The abnormal creation of autoantibodies in a person’s body is called Lupus. It causes havoc with tissues within the body. SLE being an autoimmune disease can cause severe damage to heart, lungs, kidneys and brain in serious cases.
Joint problem is no fun to deal with. It causes stiffness and swelling in the body and restricts normal movement of the body to a great extent. Whatever might be the causes of the joint problem; it should be handled with care. In the primary level, pain management including stretching exercise, prescription pain medications, etc. might play a significant role to some extent. However, in serious cases, surgery is the only alternative.
