Unlike other herbs that are in the root or leaf form; Yarrow is a flower. It is a very beautiful flower that can be added to your garden and used as a natural remedy as and when you need it. The benefits of the plant have been known since ancient Greece. During the Trojan War the plant extract was used to heal the wounded and nurse them back to health. In the common world; the herb is used as a remedy for common cold, flu and to treat skin diseases and bruises. In the case of a skin disease; the herb needs to be blended in to an ointment and then applied topically to the skin.
The flower and the leaves on the plant are most beneficial. In the case of a digestive disorder; the leaves are crushed to form a juice. Drinking the juice will help to ease the disorder and to aid digestion.
The plant extract is also used as an astringent. In this form it helps to control acne, reduce scars and pimples and cleanse the skin. It also helps to control excess oil production.
Yarrow can also be blended as a tea. Drinking the tea helps to control fever and eases any throat and chest congestion that you may be experiencing. Simply boil the leaves and the flower for 10 to 15 minutes on a low flame and let it cool down to a temperature that you are able to drink it at. Filter the tea and add a few spoons of honey to sweeten the tea. Drink the tea at every 2 hour intervals and you will begin to sweat. This will bring down the body temperature and get rid of the fever within a few hours. The herb in the form of the tea also helps to cleanse the stomach by aiding the elimination of waste from the system.
