Home remedies have acted as a blessing in disguise for centuries. From common ailments to skin diseases home remedies are known to be curative. In the case of dandruff common home remedies prove to be extremely helpful.

Thyme helps to cure dandruff due to its antiseptic properties. Boil a cup of water with approximately 3 to 4 tea spoons of thyme leaves chopped into fine sections. Let the water simmer for 10 minutes and then drain the water and let it cool. Apply the water to your scalp and massage your hair with it. Do not rinse it off.

Fenugreek seeds are also known to be an effective cure. Soak a spoon of the seeds in water overnight and grind them in the morning to form a thick paste. Apply this paste to your scalp and massage it well and keep it on your scalp for half and hour and wash off with cold water. The paste will nourish the scalp and effectively help to reduce the dandruff.

Regular oil massages with olive, mustard or almond oil is effective. After the massage; apply a hot water soaked towel to your head so that you get a hot steam massage as well and then wash it off with hot water. You will not find the need to use conditioner.

If you suffer from dandruff then your scalp is dry and you must hydrate it. The most important thing is to drink water to keep your scalp and skin hydrated. Your diet must consist of a healthy serving of fresh fruits and vegetables. Fruit shakes, juices and salads are a healthy way to add water to your diet.

The sun also helps to get rid of the dandruff. Expose your scalp to healthy amounts of sun regularly.

In my opinion the most effective remedy uses an egg and yogurt mixed with the juice of a lemon. Mix the ingredients together and then apply it to your scalp and let it stay through out the day. Wash it with warm water to get rid of the dandruff.

Rubbing lemon on your scalp or onion on your scalp till it gets red is an effective way of warding off the dandruff. The juices of the lemon or onion help to reduce the dandruff and increases blood circulation in the area and help to increase the growth of the hair.
