Tonsils are two oval shaped lymphatic glands present in either side of the throat that act as the first line of defense, protecting our body from bacterial and viral infections. Lime, enriched in Vitamin C is very beneficial in treating infected tonsils. To a mixture of lime juice and hot water, add few teaspoonfuls of honey and a pinch of common salt. Sip this mixture slowly to reduce the infection of the tonsils.
Gargling with an extract of fenugreek seeds is also widely practiced to treat infected tonsils. Add some fenugreek seeds in boiling water and simmer it for few minutes. Then use this extract for gargling. Repeat this treatment 3-4 times a day.
