7 Natural Remedies For Ulcer

Ulcers are lesions or open wounds that mainly occur on the skin or a mucous membrane like the lining of the digestive tract in the stomach.  They are associated with inflammation or ischemia that ultimately leads to pus formation and necrosis of surrounding tissue.  There are different types of ulcers and their classification depends on their location along the digestive tract and other parts of the body.

Peptic ulcers include ulcers of the digestive tract in the stomach or the ulcers of the duodenum.  The main cause of peptic ulcers is frequent consumption of medications such as NSAIDS found in drugs like aspirin and ibuprofen.  The bacteria Helicobacter Pylori is also held responsible for causing peptic ulcers.  An important symptom of peptic ulcer is burning pain in the abdominal area, 2 – 3 hours after a meal or when the stomach is empty, along with weight loss, poor appetite, vomiting, blood in stools and vomiting of blood.

Natural Remedies For Peptic Ulcers

Raw fruits and vegetables if consumed regularly produce mucous substances that form a layer on the stomach lining thus guarding it from the harmful bacteria.  Raw cabbage or carrot juice strengthens the digestive tract if taken on a regular basis.Eating two bananas everyday helps to reduce the hyperacidity of the gastric juices.  Bananas with a glass of milk should be consumed at least thrice every day that will soothe acid reflux thus efficiently curing the ulcer.

Wood apple also has the same quality as bananas and thus consuming them will provide relief from stomach ulcers.  Soak wood apple leaves in water overnight.  Strain the leaves and drink the water several times a day.Fenugreek seeds when soaked overnight forms a mucilaginous substance that has tremendous medicinal properties and has the capability of providing a permanent cure for peptic ulcer.

Mouth ulcers are characterized by sores that occur on the inner lining of the mouth.  Chronic infections and deficiency of vitamin B are some of the common causes that lead to the outbreak of mouth ulcers.  By virtue of its location mouth ulcers cause a lot of pain and discomfort especially while eating and drinking.  They can be easily cured within 10 – 14 days.  However in severe cases it can take several weeks.

Salad should be a part of your regular diet along with raw onions.  The sulfur content of raw onions has the properties of curing mouth ulcers very quickly.  Your diet should be packed with a lot of soured products like cottage cheese, buttermilk and yoghurt.

Add one cup of fenugreek leaves in boiling water.  Cover it up and keep it for some time.  Once cool, strain the mixture and use it for gargling at least 2 to 3 times a day.

You can try using a saline mouthwash which can be easily prepared at home.  Just add a teaspoon of salt to a glass of warm water and use it to rinse your mouth 2 or 3 times every day.

The herb licorice has the capability of curing many oral and dental health problems.  Its stems and leaves can be used to clean the mouth effectively.  It helps to control the further spreading of the sores apart from cleaning your mouth and teeth.

The regenerating power of aloe vera can heal the dead tissues in the mouth caused due to ulcer.  You can either use it for gargling purposes or apply it directly on the ulcerated area of the mouth.
