The nutrition that you offer your body and all the calories that you gain from the food is offered directly to your baby when you are in the final stage of your pregnancy. Thus it is important to be very particular about the food that you eat. It is extremely important to maintain a diet that is rich in fiber, minerals and vitamins and water.

Do not be under the impression that you need to eat larger portions at this stage; it will not help. As a matter of fact; eating large portions will make you uneasy and will increase the risk of flatulence, acidity and gas. You need to eat small meals frequently so that your baby receives nourishment at regular intervals.

Foods that are rich in vitamins, calcium and protein are a must when you are in your third trimester. Eat foods that are high in vitamin B content; this vitamin assists in building the baby’s bones. This vitamin also reduces stress drastically; this is very important for pregnant women- especially first time moms.

In order to boost your immunity as well as your baby’s immunity you must eat whole grains, chicken, fish, potatoes, pastas and bananas. Snack on dry fruits and nuts.

In order to build stronger bones you need to eat foods that are rich in calcium. Drink plenty of milk during the day but avoid it at night as it may cause flatulence. Almonds, figs and green leafy veggies are also a good source of calcium and you can snack on them at regular intervals. You must also eat plenty of oranges and drink plenty of lemon juice.

Drink herbal tea and green tea as the anti oxidants in the tea keep your body free from toxins.

Add legumes and lentils to your diet in order to get a healthy dose of iron. This mineral is not only important for you it is essential for the development of the baby too.
