Nutritional and Health Benefits of Macadamia Nuts
In the cocoa butter form this nut is now getting to be a popular choice with children and adults alike. Yes, we are talking about the Macadamia nut. If you use the nut in the oil form then you will see an extremely positive change in your health within a few days. But, with the number of choices that you have when you are choosing your cooking oil, what makes this nut so special?
Macadamia nuts are known for their high concentration of good fats or mono saturated fats. The oil that is extracted from these nuts is therefore safe to consume as they too have mono saturated fats and they do not harm the body in any way. Along with being good for the body it also helps to control cholesterol and lower the count as well therefore being an agent that helps to prevent heart diseases.
Besides being heart healthy; the oil contains oleic acid. This acid is rare and is found in macadamia nuts in high portions. This acid is known for its anti inflammatory properties and hence it helps to reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
In addition to all these properties; the oil also is a good source of antioxidants; therefore it is helpful in preventing diseases.
One of the greatest traits of Macadamia oil is that it has a very high smoke point; what this means is that it does not burn at low temperatures. Hence this oil can be used for frying foods as opposed to olive oil that burns at a very low temperature.
How to incorporate the nut in your diet
Adding something new to your diet is not always the easiest thing to do. But there are ways to trick yourself and your family into getting into a habit of eating something different. Now that we are aware of benefits of the oil and the nut; it is time to start adding them to your diet.
Start with swapping your oil with Macadamia oil. Use it in your food preparations; especially for frying and on salads. Macadamia nut butter is now flooding the shelves in almost every supermarket. Add this to breakfast toast or on sandwich bread for snack time. You can also sprinkle the nuts on your cookies for an extra crunch. Macadamia nuts make a great snack and hence you can carry a few of them around for a quick snack; they are great energy boosters.
