Oily Skin – Tips for Men
February 8, 2010
Excess secretion of oil in your skin increases the risk of blackheads, whiteheads and acne forming on your skin. But you need not frown as there are some benefits of oily skin as well. Oily skin is less prone to wrinkles and fine lines. However you need to take a few steps to keep your skin clean and healthy in order to prevent it from looking dull and shiny.
If you have oily skin then you need to increase your consumption of water in order to flush out toxins from your body. If your skin secretes oil in abundance then your pores may get blocked and this leads to blackheads and whiteheads forming on your skin. Clogged pores can also lead to acne, pimples and zits forming on your skin.
Men, if you have oily skin then you need to exfoliate your skin at least 3 times a week. This will help you to keep your pores clean and free from oil and clogged pores. When you exfoliate your skin you will be able to get rid of the excess oil in your pores and also remove dead skin cells and dirt from your pores.
Wash your face with mild cleaners and warm water. Do not use hot water on your face (even when you shave) as hot water will increase the secretion of oil. Use an astringent or toner on your skin when you wash your face in order to close your pores. Toners help to clean the pores from deep within and remove excess oils that are trapped in your skin.
Avoid exposing your skin to the sun for extended periods. If you expect to be in the sun for extended periods then you must use protective sunscreen lotions or creams to prevent sun damage. If you are at the beach avoid getting a tan as it increases the risk of blackheads and whiteheads forming on your skin.
Men are fond of eating greasy foods and those that are high in fats. This must be avoided if you have oily skin. A diet that is high in fats increases the chances of acne breakouts. You need to avoid consuming caffeine in huge amounts if you want to keep your skin acne free.
