Osteoporosis: Causes and Solutions
Osteoporosis is defined as a systematic skeletal disease which is characterized by low bone mass. The origin of this problem starts when the bone tissue deteriorates from the body and increases the risk of fracture. This shows that there is a direct link between calcium which forms the basis for all bones diseases and osteoporosis as well.
Age is one of the biggest risk factor and the chances for getting osteoporosis increases with the increase in the person’s age. Women suffer from osteoporosis after the age of 45 and men’s start suffering after the age of 65. When compared with mens, women are more likely to get affected by this disease. Smoking is another very important cause for developing osteoporosis. Too much alcohol, drinking soft drinks in high amounts, taking steroids for a long time, deficiency in calcium and vitamin D also leads to osteoporosis.
Adequate calcium consumption and exercise can increase peak bone mass which can reduce bone loss and lower the risk of fractures. Throughout your adulthood for healthy bones consumption of calcium and vitamins are essential. Avoid meat in your diets instead of that eat plenty of green vegetables.
