The functioning of the brain depends on oxygen which is carried to it by the red blood cells. Red blood cells are developed from vitamin B and you should therefore ensure that your diet contains the adequate amount of these vitamins.

Folic acid, vitamin B6 and B12 primarily help in the development of red blood cells and can be obtained from fruits such as strawberries, melons and citrus fruits. Soy beans, black beans, legumes, broccoli, spinach, asparagus and dark leafy greens are also a good source for vitamin B.

Apart from vitamin B there are some other vitamins such as beta carotene, vitamin C and E which also help improve memory. These vitamins act as antioxidants and help neutralize free radicals thus improving the flow of oxygen. Omega 3 fatty acids are essential to maintain a healthy and good memory.

A good source for this vitamin is fish and walnuts. If you don’t eat fish then you can get a healthy dose of omega 3 fats from supplements that are available over the counter.
