Stretch marks are unsightly. They are a constant reminder of a larger person that once was you. Though you may loose weight and tone your body; these marks serve as a constant reminder of the times that you have put behind you. In order to remove or get rid of these marks there are several remedies that you can avail of in the comfort of your home.

The most common area that stretch marks form on is the stomach, thighs, arms and the buttocks. When you bathe you have an excellent opportunity to get rid of the marks. Start with washing your body with an exfoliating body wash; this ensures that the dead cells and dirt and oils are eliminated from the skin. By exfoliating your skin daily you are increasing the chances of renewing skin and thereby eliminating any scars and marks from your body.

Cocoa butter is the best topical treatment for stretch marks. The moisturizer increase the elasticity of the skin and in this way decreases the possibility of the skin getting scarred.

A sunscreen lotion with a strong SPF is a good way to ensure that the scars on your skin are taken care of. If you already have stretch marks on your body then you are at greater risk of showing of the marks as they do not get tanned like the rest of your body.

If the skin is showing signs of marks as a result of weight gain then you must start on an exercise routine immediately. This will ensure that your body is well toned and in turn reduce the impact of the marks on your skin.

Massaging your skin regularly with lavender or cod liver oil is also an effective remedy. These oils improve the texture and elasticity of the skin. You can use these remedies in the first trimester of your pregnancy to prevent marks from forming on your skin.
