
A lot of children suffer from hiccups, and not all adults are spared either. Not chewing your food well, speaking while eating, drinking water and allowing air to enter your mouth while eating leads to hiccups.
The most common way and one that has been used for generations is a natural remedy that requires you to hold your breathe for a few seconds and then exhale. Anti gravity exercises are known to be effective in curing the hiccups. Simply stand on your head or position yourself in a way where your head is on the floor and your feet in the air. The gravitational force will help to reduce the hiccups instantly and within a few seconds you will feel relief.
Drink chamomile tea. It must be a strong blend so ideally you need to seep it for about half an hour or so. It acts as a muscle relaxant and reduces the activity in your diaphragm.
In some rare cases hiccups are known to last for weeks. If you try a few home remedies and they do not seem to stop the hiccups after 24 hours; you must seek professional help. It could be a symptom in this case and not a disorder. A doctor would be the best person to help you in this case to diagnose the reason for the prolonged hiccups.
