Problem Of Dry Skin

Dry skin needs thorough care as it is generally sensitive. Old aged people usually face more problem of dry skin. Some people have hereditary tendency to have dry skin. The best way to manage dry skin is to use alcohol free lotions and creams.

Bleach and soaps consist of many chemicals that can make the skin dry. Many products can suck moisture from the skin and make it cracked and dry. Even an antibacterial soap can do that. Moisturizers help to reduce moisture from the outer skin layer. It provides barrier against dirt and dust and brings feeling of softness.

Drinking lot of water increases natural moisture level of the body. It also helps the skin to look young. A person should cut shower and bathing time to three minutes and avoid hot water. Over scrubbing should be avoided. Moisturizer should be immediately applied after bathing to seal moisture. Lower legs should be specially taken care. Coconut oil or cocoa butter is also good to be applied after bathing. As these have skin friendly ingredients like Vitamins A, C, E and D. Natural lotions and oils are very good for skin as it protects skin from aging and deeply moisturizes it.

A paste of egg yolk, lemon juice and olive oil should be applied on neck and face and washed after ten minutes; it is good for dry skin. Normal tap water may have fluoride, chlorine or any other harmful chemicals for skin, using cold mineral water can be a better option. Un-boiled milk can be used as it gently removes daily make-up and impurities and leaves the skin soft, clean and hydrated.

Avoid the use of harsh masks, peels, astringents and toners based on alcohol as this can remove essential oil from the skin, instead mild foaming cleanser or cleansing milk should be used. Dryness of skin can also cause dermatitis. Some redness along with flaking is a sign of dermatitis. Dermatitis is of different types that can cause itchy, dry and flaking skin. Treatment is essential for an extremely dry skin with dermatitis.
