Psoriasis Preventions And Precautions
Psoriasis is a disease which affects the skin and joints of our body. Generally, it is an infectious disease and can be transmitted from one person to another. A person suffering from psoriasis finds red scaly patches on the skin of his body. The skin around the knees, elbow and other similar joints of the body are the areas mainly hit by this disease. It is a chronic disease and can spread from a small area of the skin to the whole body. The person suffering from psoriasis avoids facing the public due to the fear of public rejection and consequently he is caught under the problem of mental stress. Though the actual cause of psoriasis is not known but it is said to be a problem generated by the excessive growth of cells in our body. A weak immune system may also be a reason for the diseases like psoriasis.
Irrespective of your age and sex, psoriasis can attach anyone and a person with weak immune system is always at higher risk of psoriasis. If you find any symptom of this disease, you should consult a dermatologist. The dermatologist after diagnosis can suggest you an effective treatment of this disease. However, to reduce dryness of the skin you can use a moisturizing cream. A number of medicine based creams and other ointments are available in the market. You can use one with doctor’s advice. Use of these ointments and creams will make your skin soft, reduce inflammation and can remove the dead scaly patches from the skin. Another treatment of psoriasis is the phototherapy in which sunlight with a non-heating effect is used for controlling this disease. The persons suffering from this disease are advised to use specific light bulb and tubes in their living room and this light helps them in preventing the growing psoriasis in the body.
Though, the science has not yet found a permanent cure for this disease, but it can be controlled by consulting dermatologist. Apart from affecting the skin and your overall look psoriasis can also affect the joints of your body. In some cases it affects only the joints and the person suffering from this disease may feel only the joint pain, no skin symptoms are visible.

This has bothered me for quite some time: not everyone that has psoriasis is afraid to face the public! Frankly enough it’s just not that embarrassing. I have had psoriasis since the age of seven and I have gone through every last bit of the harsh treatment from peers that everyone says is so horrible. I have been called names and I have been discriminated against but I came to terms with it and I am now a very confident young woman. I am tired of the assumption that ‘just because you have psoriasis you must have absolutely no self-confidence.’ It doesn’t always work that way.
