Remedies for Common Cold

We all are well aware of the symptom of common cold. The basic symptoms of common cold are stuffy and runny nose, sore throat, sneezing etc. Mild fever, tiredness and headache may also be the symptoms of common cold. Most of the people go for over the counter medicines for getting a quick relief from the symptoms of common cold.

However, they are not of much help and they can lead to other health complications as a result of their side effect. There are various natural remedies for common cold. These remedies are helpful in reducing the discomfort due to common cold and provide a quick recovery. Various remedies of common cold which are free from any sort of side effect include herbal remedies, aromatherapy, acupressure, homeopathy etc.

In case you experience any sign of cold you can go for some home based treatment like taking 20 drops of Echinacea tincture water after every two hours till the symptoms vanish. You can keep taking this water for more than two weeks. Herbal tea is very effective in the treatment of common cold. Taking garlic is very helpful in treatment of common cold. Consumption of two or three garlic capsules every two hours helps in avoiding symptoms of cold. You should consume food which is rich in vitamin. Vegetable soups and chicken soup are very effective. Avoid taking cold drinks and avoid exposure to excessive cold. Drink plenty of fluids and water to keep body well hydrated.

If you feel congestion in heat and lungs you can go for a mustard footbath. Take some hot water in a water tub, add three spoonful of mustard powder in it. Keep both of your feet on the hot water for 15 to 20 minutes. This will give you a quick relief from the congestion. Steam inhalation is also an effective way to avoid congestion. People with weak immune system are at higher risk of getting common cold and hence consumption of fruits and vegetables which strengthen our immune system will be helpful in avoid common cold. You can take fruits and vegetable contain vitamin C. Vitamin C makes our immune system more powerful.
