A bloated stomach is quite an uncomfortable thing to deal with. Furthermore the only thing worse than having a bloated stomach is when there seems to be nothing on hand that can help bring you relief. Bloating of the stomach is caused when gas is unable to get expelled from the system by flatulence or burping. Apart from being uncomfortable there are times when bloating in the stomach causes quite a lot of pain. Bloating can be caused due to various reasons such as your stress levels and more commonly due to the kind of food that you eat. There are a few things that one should follow to help them relieve bloating.
The type of food that you eat can sometimes be the main cause of a bloated stomach. Avoid eating foods that produce gas in the system. Foods such as cabbage, cauliflower, beans, broccoli and lettuce should be had in moderation as they tend to produce more gas.
Certain fruits like pears, apples and peaches also should be avoided if you tend to bloat easily as they also add to bloating. Avoid aerated or carbonated beverages instead have water. It is recommended to have at least 6-8 glasses of water daily. This will help flush out the system and relieve the pressure and the bloating. Dairy products such as milk, curds, yogurt and cottage cheese should be avoided as they become harder to digest as you age. Bloating symptoms are worsened with fatty foods so avoid or reduce them as they take longer to get digested. While eating, don’t swallow you food. Eat your food slowly and try avoiding gulping in air while you eat. This air sometimes causes the stomach to get bloated and leaves you feeling choked up and uncomfortable.
After you have eaten your meals don’t lie down to rest immediately as this could also aggravate you’re bloating. Take a walk especially after dinner as this would help you digest your food and also expel any air that you could have swallowed while eating. Walking also helps gas that is trapped to pass thru the system. Sometimes sit-ups also help to relieve the bloated feeling in your stomach.
