Pain in the joints is not uncommon to adults but unfortunately these days even children are suffering from this dreaded condition. Viral and bacterial infections as well as hereditary conditions contribute to joint pains at an early age. Do not be alarmed or do not dismiss your child’s complaints about joint pains. There are several types of joint pains and each has their own set of treatments.

The pain in the joints may be juvenile rhumatiod arthritis. This condition occurs in children under 16 and there is a one in thousand chance of an attack. The condition is characterized by swollen joints in the arms and legs and limited movements in these joints. This condition is serious and can only be treated with anti biotic medications; however they too causes acute to severe side effects like nausea and anemia.

The pain may also be due to an infection in the bone and if this condition is not treated immediately then it can lead to permanent deformity. This is caused due to bacteria entering the body during childhood; normally when there is a minor injury or cut. Severe conditions would call for a surgery however milder versions of this condition would require anti biotic medication for a few weeks.

The pain in the joints could also be Lyme disease. This is caused by a parasite in the body. This parasite enters the body or may bite into the flesh. In this disease the child will show symptoms on the lines of fever, fatigue, stiffness in the neck and other joints as well as severe joint pain. Erythromycin is the only remedies for this disease.

Another cause of joint pain may be a fracture. This is normally caused by an injury to a certain part of the body where the bone gets affected. Normally the joint will show some signs of swelling and will pain. Inability to use the part of the body is an indication of a bone fracture. A plaster or cast is the only way to set a bone and help it to heal.
