I walked over the hall during my college reunion and the one remark that I heard every one pass as I walked by was, “Wow! Look at her lashes. Wonder how they got that long!” I admit that when I was in high school and during my college years I had almost non existent eye lashes. I was the butt of many jokes and I was determined to do everything that I could to make my lashes look attractive. With the help of a well balanced diet and a few home remedies I was able to get the lashes that I longed for.
Just as the hair on your head needs nourishment so does the hair on your lashes. You may use topical treatments to increase the growth and length of your lashes; however it is also important to nourish your lashes internally.
A protein rich diet is the best solution for long lashes. Eating protein rich foods like chicken and eggs and drinking milk will benefit the growth of your lashes. In addition to these foods whole grains, fish, dark green leafy vegetables and beans help to nourish your lashes. Drinking adequate water during the day will help you to nourish your hair and strengthen it from the roots; this will prevent lashes from breaking easily.
In addition to a healthy diet you need to also care for your lashes topically. Start with reducing the amount of cosmetics you use on your eyes. Don’t get me wrong, I am not asking you to stop wearing eye make up completely; no woman feels complete without make up. However, reducing the amount of cosmetics on your eyes will benefit you in the long run.
You also need to wash your make up from your face before you go to bed. Using mineral based cosmetics will help to nourish your skin and helps the growth of lashes. Use a generous amount of Aloe Vera gel on your lashes and eye brows at night; the natural plant extract will nourish the skin on the area and improve the growth of the hair.
Castor oil benefits your lashes. Apply Castor oil on your lashes if you want to increase the length and strengthen the lashes and prevent the hair from breaking. This remedy is one of the most promising remedies that I have tried.
