A bladder infection is a condition where you feel the constant need to urinate and passing urine is often painful or accompanied by a burning sensation. When suffering from a bladder infection urine could be cloudy or sometimes you could even pass blood. Many people also come down with a fever.
Any kind of an infection is an indication that your immunity is low. You need to be careful of what you eat. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. Foods that are acidic in nature also need to be avoided.
Keep drinking a lot of water, double your consumption. This will help in washing away the infection. Drinking barley water is extremely beneficial to cure a bladder infection. Try boiling a fistful of barley seeds in about a liter of water, when the water begins to boil lower the flame and let simmer till the consistency thickens and the water looks milky. Let this cool down and keep having this liquid at intervals during the day.
Pure cranberry juice can also cure a bladder infection. Avoid consuming any canned juices as these are loaded with preservatives and can make the infection worse.
Vitamins C and A also help in fighting off any infection. Try taking these supplements for at least 10 days. Consult your doctor before doing so.
Avoid sexual intercourse until the infection clears up. This is especially important for women, as intercourse can actually push the bacteria in further.
Women should also try using a sanitary pad instead of a tampon. After using the bathroom, remember to wipe yourself from the front to the back. Wiping the reverse way can actually make the infection worse.
Maintain good hygiene; remember to wash yourself with lukewarm water and a mild soap. Wipe yourself completely dry and wear cotton panties. Change your panties at least twice in a day.
Stay at home for a few days till you feel better. If there is no way you can stay away from work, take extra care when using public bathrooms. Avoid direct contact with the toilet seat. Use toilet paper on the seat before you sit down.
Also avoid eating outside food, pack some fruits or a vegetable sandwich as opposed to meat.
If you don’t feel any better with a few days, consult your doctor for medical advice.
