This is due to the fact that there is less stress on the joints.

Exercise may prove painful; for a person with rheumatoid arthritis. However it is best to do gentle exercises to help maintain joint integrity and mobility. Exercises may be stopped when the pain in the is acute and it is stiff. It is also interesting to note that exercises like walking, swimming, and exercises in water help a lot to remedy the situation.  Water exercises prove more beneficial due to the minimizing of pressure on weight bearing joints.
