Ringworm is a kind of infection of the skin. These infections are caused from fungus and are red in color. They are also circular in shape. It is a type of rash that is extremely contagious as is known to spread rapidly from one person to another.
Despite its name, it has nothing to do with worms and is in fact a kind of fungal infection. Since it is circular in shape, the name “ring” has been attached to it. Tinea is another name for ringworm. Although this ailment is mostly found in the children, the infection can affect any individual and of any age.
The fungus that is responsible for this infection is found everywhere, in the soil, other people or in any animals. This fungus usually enters a person through a break in the skin.
Warm, damp areas or the places that are mostly prone to sweats are the places where these fungal spores thrive. Unwashed surfaces of swimming pools, pets, sharing of combs, sharing of unwashed clothes are some of the ways by which an individual can get infected by the infection.
One effective way of fighting ringworm is by mixing a part of lavender oil with two parts of tea tree oil. After mixing these two oils, just add jajoba carrier oil to these oils. Now use this tincture and cover the sores regularly. The sores will be soon gone. This method is known to fight the fungal infection effectively.
Again putting of geranium essential oil directly on to the affected area also helps in the fighting of ringworms successfully. Take some geranium essential oil in a cotton ball and dab it on the place that has been affected by the infection.
This should be done at least thrice daily. It helps in the killing of the fungus and in drying up of the area. Myrrh oil is also known to be effective in fighting ringworm.
