They are important sources of energy though you must remember that they are not high in their nutritional value and hence we must limit the consumption of them.
There are 2 types of sugar; those that are found naturally in fruits and milk and artificial sugar or refined sugar that we add to our food.
If we consume too much of added sugar then we increase the risk of dental issues as they are known to increase the risk of cavities if consumed between meals. The sugar that is found in honey and natural juices can lead to disasters in oral hygiene as well if proper care is not taken.
Sugar is also known to be connected with obesity. The increase the risk of over eating and are full of empty calories that satiate your hunger pangs thus snot leaving you in need of food.
How to reduce the amount of sugar in your diet
Drink water instead of grabbing a can of artificial juice or a soda. Water helps to keep your body hydrated and also keeps you healthy and fit. Artificial drinks are high in sugars and they increase your risk of cavities. They are high in calories as well; thus leading to weight gain. Drinking milk instead of a sugar based drink is not a bad idea either.
Avoid cakes and pastries and opt for sugar free snacks. Salty snacks are a god option though you must also keep in mind the amount of sodium you are consuming.
Reduce the amount of sugar you add to your cup of tea or coffee by half.
Drink fresh fruit juices rater than the canned variety that you get readily.
