Role of Vitamins and Minerals in Joint Care
Joint care is helpful in protecting joints by injury and prevents other problems in later life. There are many vitamins and minerals that plays important role in joint care. Deficiency of Vitamin A can lead to painful joints and problems of bone growth.
It can also cause disease Bedson. Vitamin A is one of the fat- soluble vitamins. Vitamin A is good for skin, eyes and normal growth. Deficiency of Vitamin B6 can cause arthritis; it is used in therapeutic treatment of osteoarthritis. Vitamin E helps in stimulation of cartilage synthesis it also stops cartilage breakdown. A person should have the recommended amount daily to take care of joint. Chelated zinc is helpful in improvement of joint stiffness and joint pain in morning. Vitamin C is the water soluble vitamin which helps in maintaining skin integrity.
Vitamin C plays important role in healing of wound, such as tissue repair. It is required for formation of collagen that is in the ligaments, skin and bone so it is important in joint care too. It help in healing wounds, it has important role in carrying immune functions. In some cases Vitamin C acts as oxidant and antioxidant in others. Antioxidant helps in preventing damage of cell as it neutralizes free radicals. Free radicals cause cell damage. Vitamin D is essential for development and growth of teeth &bones. It is important for treatment and prevention of osteoporosis. Vitamin D is also needed for proper utilization & absorption of Phosphorus and Calcium. Deficiency of folic acid can cause arthritis.
Folate is also required for absorption of calcium and iron. Calcium reduces inflammation, and also the associated swelling and pain. Calcium is needed for strong bones and teeth and also for nerve and muscle function. Magnesium is required for efficient enzymes production. It plays important role in the protein metabolism, carbohydrates and fats utilization and for proper functioning of nerve. Calcium if regularly taken helps in prevention of osteoporosis. Copper works with Vitamin C and Zinc and forms elastin. It is helpful in maintaining healthy joints and nerves. Manganese is essential for skin, ligament, and bone formation and in blood clotting.
