
As a teenager you are worried about your image and most teens are on the warpath to lose weight. If you are over weight then losing a few pounds is not a bad idea; though your goal weight must not be based on your favorite television star. If you are tying to lose weight then you must start with making a few changes in your diet. This does not mean that you start starving yourself or depriving yourself of food; you just need to eat healthy and nutritious food. If you start with starving yourself you are bound to reach a point where your hunger will get the best of you and you will have a binging session which will negate all the effort that you may have put into your diet.
Since you are in your teen age your body needs to supplement the fact that you are growing and you need the energy to perform your routine activities. Maintain your calorie count for the day and trim the fats and carbohydrates as much as you can. You must also speak with a doctor or a dietician before you embark on a weight loss program; they will be able to assist you with a diet and exercise plan that is specific to your body and the activities that you carry out during the day.
Your diet needs to maintain the 5 basic food groups; fruits and vegetables, meats, whole grain and dairy. Skipping any of these will lead to an unbalanced diet.
Do not attempt to lose weight quickly; this will lead to your body getting confused and will result in a meltdown. You must not attempt to lose more than a few pounds in a month. Once you start shedding the pounds; you also need to start toning your body. Diets and exercising do hand in hand. A few minutes during the day of cardio workouts or aerobics or yoga will help you to get in shape and stay that way. Once you start eating healthy your body will begin to feel energized; give it a constant supply of fruits and nuts.
